Monday Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets: Otto Kemp, Andrew Kittredge and More

Monday Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Targets: Otto Kemp, Andrew Kittredge and More

Kemp presents an intriguing fantasy pickup opportunity after climbing to 20.96% ownership, though his recent Sunday performance went hitless. Over his past five games before that stumble, the rookie delivered nine hits including three doubles and two homers, accumulating seven RBIs and five runs scored while adding a stolen base.

His average sits at .249 with a .314 on-base percentage across 53 games and 188 plate appearances, showcasing solid production for someone getting his first taste of the big leagues. What makes Kemp particularly appealing is his positional flexibility, having played first base, third base and left field, which adds significant fantasy value by making him eligible at multiple spots in your lineup.

Philly continues battling injuries, creating consistent opportunities for Kemp to maintain his fifth through seventh batting slots in an order filled with enough talent to drive in runs.

From my experience managing waiver wire pickups, players like Kemp who combine multi-position eligibility with regular playing time in decent lineups often become season-long assets rather than short-term fixes. Should you prioritize him in deeper fantasy leagues?

Absolutely, especially considering his 42 total hits include 10 doubles and six home runs alongside 24 RBIs. However, breaking into standard leagues will require another big week at the plate to prove his worth beyond just opportunity.

Should You Add Harrison Bader?

Bader represents one of today’s most compelling pickup opportunities after being added in just 4.32% of leagues despite being rostered in 43.48% overall, creating a prime chance for deep-league owners to add him for free.

His recent surge includes a hit in seven straight games with 16 total knocks over that span, and dating back to the final game in August, Bader has collected 24 hits over his past 14 games featuring six doubles and two homers among those knocks, along with nine RBIs, 13 runs scored, two walks and 21 strikeouts.

What makes this pickup even more attractive? He’s been stellar since joining the Phillies at the trade deadline, posting a .349 average and .406 OBP across 38 games and 143 plate appearances with 10 doubles, four homers and a triple among his 45 total hits, plus 15 RBIs, 24 runs scored, nine walks and 40 punchouts. I think tracking waiver wire gems, players who found new life after joining a much better team like the Phillies often sustain their fantasy value longer than expected, especially when they secure the leadoff hitter role in each of the past five games as Bader has done.

Should you worry about things changing when the team gets some of its starters back?

Definitely, but for now, Bader has real fantasy value that I’m surprised he is not owned in more leagues, making him worth streaming in all deeper leagues until he starts cooling off or loses his spot atop the lineup as a decent standard league option, although being an outfielder knocks him down a couple pegs because there’s so many good and great options available.

Should You Add Kody Clemens?

Clemens ownership is up 5.79% and sits at 12.42% overall, creating a perfect storm for savvy managers who recognize value when they see it. After starting the year with Philly, Clemens now finds himself on a retooling Twins roster that has afforded him consistent playing time, and he’s taking advantage of it lately with explosive production.

His four hit game on Friday included three homers along with a double, and he delivered seven hits over the weekend in total while driving in seven runs, scoring three times, stealing a base and walking once before striking out twice.

What makes Clemens particularly intriguing? In 108 games and 345 plate appearances this season, his .216 average and .286 OBP might seem underwhelming, but among his 67 total hits, he has 19 homers, 11 doubles and three triples with 50 RBIs, 43 runs scored, three stolen bases, 26 walks and 80 strikeouts.

And managing waiver wire pickups, players like Clemens who have played at first base, second base and all three outfield spots this season offer legit fantasy value through positional flexibility alone. He moved up to the No. 3 spot in the order on Sunday, something to keep an eye on since he’s already on the rise as a fantasy asset, and moving to that spot in the order would boost his value even more. Should you worry that Clemens isn’t part of a good lineup?

He’s definitely a fantasy asset to target, especially in deeper leagues where he can help you out at several spots and remain a solid versatile option for the remainder of the season.

Should You Add Andrew Kittredge?

Sheehan is up 4.94% today as he prepares for a start and he’s rostered in 63.98% of leagues overall, making him an intriguing streaming option tonight despite what appears to be a challenging situation. He will make a Monday night start against the Phillies, who we’ve discussed a bunch already in this story, and while it’s not a very good fantasy matchup for a pitcher, there are compelling reasons to consider him.

This will be the first time that Sheehan has faced them this season, though overall, he’s made 12 appearances, covering 59 2/3 innings with a 6-3 record and 3.32 ERA so far. Sheehan has allowed 27 runs (22 earned) on 46 hits and 19 walks while he’s struck out 69 batters to deliver good fantasy results.

What makes this streaming decision particularly interesting? You can see by some of his numbers why he’s a viable option even in a subpar matchup, especially considering his recent form. Over his past three starts, Sheehan has been great with a 2-1 record and 1.45 ERA over 18 2/3 innings, where he allowed two of the three runs in a 4 2/3 inning start that he took a loss in, plus Sheehan has 25 strikeouts over this three game stretch as well.

From my experience with streaming decisions, I like the idea of starting Sheehan in deeper leagues today and a handful of standard leagues, though the tougher matchup has me against starting him in all standard leagues, but depending on your options, you might not have a better choice.
