Week 1 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Rankings: Mike Evans in the Top 10, the First Rookie at No. 16, and More

Week 1 Fantasy Football Wide Receiver Rankings

Elite Wide Receivers Ready to Dominate Your Fantasy Lineup

When week 1 arrives, fantasy managers face critical decisions about their wideout selections. Ja’Marr Chase continues to rank first among most experts for good reason. His matchup against the Browns presents a super favorable opportunity based on last year’s numbers. From my experience managing fantasy teams, Chase delivers consistent weeks of elite production that justify his premium draft position.

Fantasy Trade Analyzer

Puka Nacua opens his season facing the Texans in what appears to be an above-average matchup this year. Despite Davante Adams joining the roster, I see Nacua going strong this season with a great showing to start week 1. Justin Jefferson faces a tough matchup against the Bears to kick off his season, but he’s a player you trust in every matchup. When you drafted him early, you should expect him to remain a top-three fantasy wideout each week.

Strategic Positioning for Maximum Fantasy Points

CeeDee Lamb encounters a tough matchup against the Eagles in week 1, yet this highly-drafted player demands your trust in every matchup. Will we see Lamb get his season off to a hot start? His volume alone should produce big numbers. Nico Collins is not everyone’s fan favorite, but when Collins stays healthy, he becomes a great weekly option. The slightly above-average matchup against the Rams sets Collins up for a big first week where he should deliver big numbers.

Mike Evans catches attention from FantasySP’s projections this week, and I love Evans too. He faces a favorable test against the Falcons and stands as the easily top wideout in Tampa Bay. With Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan absent, Evans should shine in week 1. Evans comes close to being a must-start guy anyway, but this week I really like his potential.

Rising Stars and Veteran Reliability

Malik Nabers earns the No 7 slot as he takes on the Commanders in week 1. Though it’s a so-so fantasy matchup, his volume alone means Nabers should shine every week. Brian Thomas represents one of last year’s promising rookie wideouts at No 8 as Thomas takes on the Panthers. This slightly above-average matchup based on last year’s marks suggests we’ll see Thomas getting his 2025 season off on the right foot.

Amon-Ra St Brown might seem low for St Brown, but the Packers created a tough matchup for fantasy wideouts last season. After factoring in this tough matchup and adding the new-look Lions’ offense, I’m not as high on ARSB this week. A.J. Brown caps my top 10 as he goes up against the Cowboys in week 1, creating a favorable matchup on paper. Brown should lead the Eagles’ pass catchers most weeks, and this matchup gives him a chance to deliver right off the bat.

Mid-Tier Wide Receiver Options for Week 1 Fantasy Football Success

Drake London slides to No 11 as he gets ready for a challenging test against the Buccaneers. While it appears pretty favorable on paper, I’m pumping the brakes a bit on London since we haven’t seen enough from Michael Penix Jr and this offense yet. From my fantasy experience, quarterback uncertainty can significantly impact receiver production, making London a cautious play despite the matchup.

Already our second Bengal at No 12, Tee Higgins benefits from that exceptional matchup against Cleveland. We can’t wait on Higgins any longer because he should put up plenty of numbers each week, even while playing second fiddle to Chase. Look for both wideouts to star in week 1. Meanwhile, Tyreek Hill presents intriguing value as I see a bounceback season coming for Hill. I like his chances of starting fast against an average Colts defense, though I’d probably rank him higher if he wasn’t dealing with an injury.

Proven Veterans and Emerging Talent in Week 1 Fantasy Rankings

Terry McLaurin enters with a new contract and stands as the clear top wideout for the Commanders, making him a great weekly option. His matchup against the Giants offers a pretty average test to start the season. Ladd McConkey emerges as the top wideout for the Chargers now and takes on the Chiefs in week 1. He’ll be the top pass catcher most weeks for LA, and an average matchup should allow McConkey to get off to a solid start.

I’m taking a swing here by saying the rookie Tetairoa McMillan opens the year with a big game against the Jaguars. It’s a very favorable matchup, so McMillan gets the nod over several veterans I could have taken. Jaxon Smith-Njigba faces a tougher test against the Niners, but I think he’ll be a good option against most teams this season. What I’m most interested to see is how many targets Cooper Kupp gets, and how Sam Darnold looks as the Seattle QB.

Strategic Week 1 Wide Receiver Plays for Fantasy Success

Xavier Worthy will take on a pretty average Chargers defense in week 1. Worthy should serve as the top wideout, with Rashee Rice suspended for the first six weeks. Jalen Royals likely being out too helps Worthy’s outlook even more. Jerry Jeudy opens his 2025 season against the Bengals, who were actually pretty solid at slowing fantasy wideouts last season. Jeudy is easily the top wideout for Cleveland, and with Joe Flacco at QB to start, Jeudy should be a pretty solid fantasy asset in the early going.

Davante Adams becomes the second LA Ram wideout to crack the list. The matchup against Houston is favorable enough for both he and Nacua to deliver good fantasy totals in week 1. When managing multiple receivers from the same team, I’ve learned that positive game scripts can benefit both players, especially in high-scoring affairs.

Deep Sleeper Wide Receivers for Week 1 Fantasy Football Lineups

Give me Marvin Harrison Jr at No 21 as he gets ready to face the Saints defense. Harrison stands as the top Arizona wideout, and I think he will break out in 2025. He could get started well in this favorable matchup. From my fantasy experience, rookie receivers often surprise in their debut games when facing weaker secondaries. I’m not a huge fan of Garrett Wilson or many players on this Jets offense, but I think Wilson is being slept on a bit in week 1. The Steelers present a pretty average matchup, and as the clear top pass catcher for the Jets, Wilson could put up good numbers on volume alone.

Zay Flowers will go up against the Bills in week 1, which creates a slightly below-average matchup based on last year. He’s the top wideout for Baltimore, and in what figures to be a high-scoring affair, Flowers could put up some big fantasy numbers. Another Bucs receiver here at No 24, the matchup against the Falcons is really standing out to me. Emeka Egbuka should take on a larger role early in the season and could put up some big-time numbers as a result. I could see him finishing way above this spot, especially if he finds the end zone.

Value Plays and Matchup-Based Wide Receiver Strategies for Fantasy Success

D.J. Moore and the Chicago wideouts have the best fantasy matchup based on last year’s numbers. The problem is that there are several options on the Bears offense, so that’s why Moore ranks so low for me. We’ll see if the Ben Johnson-led Chicago offense can keep putting up big numbers against the Vikings secondary. I’m a big fan of Courtland Sutton and the Broncos offense in 2025, but a brutal matchup against the Titans defense has me down on the top wideout for the team. He should be targeted enough to put up a solid fantasy score still.

I like DK Metcalf to lead the Steelers pass-catching group in 2025. He has a tougher test in week 1 against the Jets though. I’m really interested to see how the offense looks with so many new pieces in place. On volume though, Metcalf should put up solid fantasy totals. Another Philly wideout here, and I love that matchup against the Cowboys. DeVonta Smith is not as consistent as Brown, but Smith can still deliver fantasy starter-worthy fantasy totals. This matchup is right for that to happen.

Final Wide Receiver Considerations for Week 1 Fantasy Football Success

A second Miami wideout here at No 29 with Jaylen Waddle. The average-or-so matchup against the Colts is worth testing with two guys. I see Miami passing more with De’Von Achane banged up. Adding in Hill’s injury and Waddle could easily outproduce this ranking. This is just where I feel most confident putting him based on my years of fantasy analysis.

There were a number of guys I wanted to put at No 30, but I ended up on Ricky Pearsall. He has an average test against the Seahawks in week 1. I like Pearsall to lead the San Fran wideouts early in the season. Injuries to Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings should help Pearsall out, but the presence of George Kittle will cap his fantasy ceiling a bit too.
